Tourism Marketing Assistant
Hiring Range: $17.82/hour - $19.60/hour DOQ
Part-Time | 28 Hours/Week | Paid Training Start a Stable, Essential Career Serving Your Community! What You’ll Do As a member of our Economic Development and Tourism team, you will support all tourism marketing efforts to attract visitors to the City of Fredericksburg. Work assignments may include:
Marketing Materials Production Assists the Marketing & Communications Manager in developing and producing print and digital marketing materials, including advertising, graphic design, photography, video, email marketing, newsletters, and other promotional content.
Social Media and Website Management Assists in implementing and maintaining the Department's social media strategy across multiple platforms by creating engaging content, monitoring trends, and supporting online engagement, while also helping to maintain and update FXBG.com and other tourism marketing websites associated with the City, ensuring that website content is current, accurate, and engaging.
Destination Marketing Initiatives Assists with the FXBG Diverse City Campaign and other destination marketing initiatives, including blogs, videos, and seasonal promotional campaigns, while also aiding in the planning, promotion, and execution of tourism initiatives and special events such as Restaurant Week, Scarecrow Fest, Holiday Open House, Christmas Tree Lighting, Window Wonderland, and other destination events and programs.
Content Creation and Media Support Assists with photography, videography, content creation, and digital storytelling to promote Fredericksburg as a visitor destination while supporting media relations, influencer visits, and promotional campaigns by preparing materials and assisting with logistics, along with performing other related duties as assigned by the Marketing & Communication Manager.

Minimum Qualifications - Associate’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising or a related field;
- One (1) year experience in tourism and marketing,
- Or equivalent education, and/or experience.
Work Environment The position involves minimal physical effort, primarily sedentary office work, combined with lifting, mental tasks, repetitive motions, and handling audiovisual equipment. Responsibilities include lifting up to 20 pounds and require coordinated movements. It also entails outdoor work for tourism events in various weather conditions, involving prolonged standing and walking. The work environment is generally safe but may include unpredictable demands, such as occasional evening and weekend hours for special events and marketing activities.
