Overview Forensic Nurse Examiner – Location: Cincinnati, OH • Job Type: On‑Call. Req ID: 308329. TriHealth’s CARES Program (Center for Abuse and Rape Emergency Services) is a specialized, trauma‑informed service line dedicated to supporting victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse, and human trafficking. As a Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE/SANE) , you will deliver compassionate care and meticulous forensic documentation to support healing and justice, in a role that may involve some of the most critical moments in a patient’s life. Responsibilities Respond to on-call needs quickly and arrive on-site within established TriHealth timeframes Provide trauma‑informed forensic nursing care for patients age 14+ experiencing abuse or violence Perform comprehensive forensic examinations, evidence collection, documentation, and maintain chain of custody Collaborate with ED clinical teams, advocacy agencies, and law enforcement to coordinate patient-centered care Use assessment skills to identify physical, emotional, cultural, and psychosocial needs Deliver safe, accurate clinical care and treatments following policy and professional standards Document all findings in CARES records and communicate case details to the CARES Coordinator Participate in ongoing professional development, peer review, and continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications Must-Have Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing BSN required within 5 years of hire Registered Nurse (RN), active and unencumbered Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association Minimum 6 months clinical nursing experience Strong clinical judgment grounded in biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences Preferred Membership in related professional organizations (e.g., IAFN) Prior experience with forensic nursing, ED, women’s health, or trauma care Schedule & Location Status: On‑Call Response Expectations: Answer call within 10 minutes and arrive on-site within the timeframe established by the CARES Coordinator Primary Location: TriHealth hospitals (Cincinnati, OH) as assigned #J-18808-Ljbffr
