Northbay Recruiter is partnering with a renowned Napa Valley Winery in search of a Sr. Accountant for a critical role within the Accounting Department. The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of accounting duties to support the financial operations of the winery. As part of a team, you will be an active participant in managing month end close, overseeing the GL and performing key reconciliations and analysis. The Sr. Accountant will have additional oversight of assigned daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks to help meet departmental goals and objectives. Strong analysis, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills will be critical for the success of this position. This position is primed for growth and advancement for a well-qualified and highly motivated individual.

Responsibilities:

• Be an active participant in the monthly close process, ensuring the timely completion of financials
• Review and reconcile GL accounts & perform detailed analysis on bank, revenue and inventory accounts
• Review work of and approve journal entries and adjustments.
• Collaborate with internal teams & managers to navigate accounting issues to ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Support with annual audit requests and gather documents for annual/semi-annual tax filings.
• Perform additional projects and ad-hoc reporting/analysis as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
• 4-6 years of experience within progressive accounting roles with overall increasing responsibility ideally within a wine or related business environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work collaboratively with teammates to resolve accounting issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate with department heads and upper-level management.
• Demonstrated technical skills: understanding of accounting software, preferably ERP systems, in addition to intermediate-level proficiency in MS Excel.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and have experience working within a fast-paced & structured accounting environment.
