Job Purpose

The Overhead Crane Operator is responsible for transporting slit coils to the storage area as well as loading the Mill with steel according to the run sheet. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Operate Overhead Crane in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
• Transport slit coils to slit coil bay.
• Lift all metal hoppers from Slitter/Mill so the Utility Forklift Operator can dispose of scrap into the dumpster.
• Assist Slitter/Mill during changeover.
• Assist Tooling during changeover.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Competencies
• Education:

o A High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

o Must pass SeAH Steel USA, LLC. Crane training course.
• Years of Experience:

o No minimum years of experience required.
• Job Knowledge:

o Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• Personal Competencies:

o Employee must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time when needed.

o Employee must be able to respond to call outs when required.
• Safety:

o Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
• The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly
• The ability to respond quickly to sounds
• The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
• The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
