ABOUT THE ROLE

Landscape Images, Ltd. is seeking a Landscape Designer to support high-end residential landscape projects throughout the New Orleans area.

This role works closely with senior landscape architects to help move projects from site analysis and concept development through presentation, documentation, and installation support. The right candidate will have strong design and technical skills, a working knowledge of plants, grading, drainage, and materials, and the ability to communicate clearly with clients, vendors, and field teams.

This is a hands-on design role within an established landscape architecture, installation, and maintenance firm with more than 40 years of experience in the New Orleans market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist senior landscape architects with site analysis, measurements, site inventory, elevations, and field documentation.
  • Develop site plans, planting plans, construction documents, and presentation materials.
  • Prepare sketches, mood boards, renderings, and digital presentations for client review.
  • Research plant materials, hardscape materials, lighting features, and other project elements.
  • Assist with proposals, budgets, presentations, and client follow-up.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to help communicate design intent during active projects.
  • Support project documentation, including change orders, project notes, and related paperwork.
  • Help tag plants and coordinate plant material selections for client projects.
  • Stay current on plant availability, material options, pricing, and landscape design trends.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff on project storytelling, promotional materials, and online content when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in landscape architecture, landscape design, or a related design role.
  • Strong portfolio of design work, including completed or in-progress projects.
  • Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, VectorWorks, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, GIS, Rhino, or similar programs.
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, plant identification, plant selection, and material specifications.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to be physically active in the field for extended periods as needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience with high-end residential landscape design.
  • Familiarity with New Orleans plant material, climate conditions, drainage concerns, and local permitting processes.
  • Experience coordinating with installation crews or field production teams.
  • Experience supporting proposals, budgets, presentations, and client follow-up.
