Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist will support daily HR operations and provide comprehensive HR services across the organization under the direction of the Director of Human Resources. The role involves talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, coaching, policy administration, compliance, and employee engagement initiatives, with a focus on retention and a positive workplace culture. Responsibilities Support/Service Delivery Handles routine employee relations questions and concerns related to HR policies, practices, disciplinary matters, performance evaluation, etc. Provides guidance and recommendations for issue resolution. Notifies leadership of concerns and investigations. Participates in monthly HR staff meetings and collaborates with management. Advises Program/Department leadership on disciplinary actions and corrective action plans. Coordinates with the internal training department and trains program/department leadership on HR topics. Assists the Director of Human Resources with government and provider surveys. Completes tasks, projects, and assignments in support of organizational strategic goals. Assists with the annual open enrollment process and benefit matters. Assists with interview processes, including question development, interview coordination, and participation. Pre‑screens applicants by phone or other methods. Works with new hires to obtain required documents, clearances, and onboarding information. Contacts new hires regarding background check results and makes hiring recommendations. Ensures new hires are welcomed and have their immediate needs addressed. Supports the “nesting” of new employees with hiring managers. Tracks applicants and maintains application/resume records. Responds to new hire inquiries about hiring process, orientation material, and system issues. Assists with troubleshooting system issues and vendor support. Assists with special projects or other HR tasks. Collaborates with management as needed. Utilizes the Microsoft Office Suite. Orders office supplies, schedules appointments, and manages meeting rooms. Quality Improvement Advances applicant pool to identify the most suitable candidates. Suggests new ideas to enhance service delivery. Communication Answers routine HR questions from supervisors and employees. Provides programs with feedback and analysis of HR topics; conducts surveys as requested. Consults with Program/Department Directors on position vacancies and hiring strategy. Collaborates with Marketing on recruitment materials. Communicates regularly with the Senior Talent Acquisition and Retention Coordinator. Provides guidance on hiring best practices. Ensures required postings are on program bulletin boards. Supervision Receives and actively communicates with supervisor throughout the week. Promotes respect for cultural diversity among coworkers. Community Engagement Conducts presentations at organizations and schools. Maintains relationships with community organizations, high schools, colleges, and universities. Represents the organization at career fairs. Documentation Maintains data within the HRIS and other systems, ensuring accuracy. Enters new hires into HRIS and uploads files into employee personnel files. Processes background check requests and obtains results. Verifies new hire documents and maintains documentation of meeting minutes. Ensures personnel files comply with laws and policies and assists auditors. Ensures new hires complete pre‑employment paperwork and background requirements. Verifies required paperwork for legibility, accuracy, and professional language. Financial/Budget Understands purchase purposes and acceptable uses. Reconciles monthly credit card statements. Supports payroll for new hires, terminations, and workflows in the HRIS. Supports payroll audit requests, reconciliations, and year‑end procedures. Risk Management and Safety Ensures compliance with employment laws and internal policies. Maintains confidentiality of records and correspondence. Completes online learning and policy acknowledgements by due date. Attends and participates in all required trainings. Qualifications Education/Credentials/Licensure: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field (required). SPHR/PHR or SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP Certification (preferred). Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record. Reliable transportation and current auto insurance. Experience: Three to five years in an HR department with employee relations responsibility. Supervisory experience preferred. Clearances: DPS, DFPS, FBI, CBCU Eligibility Determination, Child Abuse Clearances.
