Dental Lab Manager

Job Description

The Dental Lab Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of the dental lab. This role requires a strong background in management, operations, project management, and customer service. While dental-specific experience is not required, the ideal candidate will have experience in digital design, production processes, and quality assurance. The Dental Lab Manager will be accountable for all metrics related to lab processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services in a timely manner. They will be the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including the lab team, clients, referring offices, surgeons, and implant treatment coordinators.
Work Environment:
The role will require both in-person and remote communication with various stakeholders.
High-contact environment involving coordination between multiple teams and clients.
Occasional hands-on interaction with lab processes and equipment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operations Management:
Oversee the daily workflow of the dental lab, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality dental products.
Manage the complete lab process, including digital design, rendering, nesting, resin printing, milling, ceramic work, staining, and product delivery.
Coordinate with in-house prosthodontists and surgeons to ensure that case requirements are met and products are delivered to satisfaction.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Supervise and support the dental lab team, ensuring all roles and responsibilities are effectively carried out.
Foster collaboration between the lab team, referring offices, outside clients, surgeons, and implant treatment coordinators to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.
Provide guidance and training to lab team members on best practices and emerging technologies.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Oversee and ensure strict adherence to quality assurance protocols to maintain high standards in lab outputs.
Review and inspect products to guarantee compliance with specifications and requirements.
Manage quality control processes for all stages of production to ensure consistency and excellence.
Project & Resource Management:
Plan and manage lab projects, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
Track and optimize the use of materials, equipment, and resources to enhance productivity and minimize waste.
Handle any issues related to resources, equipment malfunctions, or process inefficiencies.
Customer Service & Stakeholder Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, referring offices, and internal stakeholders regarding lab services and product status.
Provide excellent customer service, resolving inquiries, addressing concerns, and facilitating communication between clients and the lab team.
Maintain relationships with referring offices, NHOMS/MassOMS surgeons, and Implant Treatment Coordinators to ensure seamless integration between lab services and clinical needs.
Billing & Collections:
Oversee the appropriate billing and collections related to lab services.
Ensure accurate tracking of billing for products and services, working with the finance team to resolve discrepancies.
Metrics & Reporting:
Track, monitor, and report on all relevant metrics, including production timelines, product quality, client satisfaction, and financial performance.
Provide regular reports to the Director of Operations and make recommendations for improvements in lab performance.

Salary Range

full-time $90,000 - $95,000 per year

Salary up to *95,000 with bonuses

Full-time availability Monday - Friday.

Requirements

Proven experience in managing operations, team leadership, and project management.
Strong background in digital design and/or experience in a technical production environment (e.g., 3D design, milling, printing).
Familiarity with the dental industry is a plus, but not required.
Experience working in a high-contact customer service environment with multiple stakeholders.

Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external clients.
Proficient in managing metrics, reporting, and overseeing quality assurance.
Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
