Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Cardiac Sonographer to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our statewide, non-profit healthcare system. In this role, you will perform high-quality echocardiographic and related non-invasive cardiac ultrasound examinations for adult and, as applicable, pediatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will collaborate closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other members of the care team to support accurate diagnosis, guide treatment decisions, and ensure timely, compassionate care. The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for preparing patients, explaining procedures, and obtaining detailed patient histories relevant to each exam. You will perform a full range of cardiac ultrasound studies, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler, color flow, stress echocardiograms, and contrast or bubble studies according to established protocols and accreditation standards. Using advanced ultrasound equipment, you will acquire and optimize images, perform accurate measurements and calculations, and recognize normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics. You will provide preliminary technical impressions and ensure that studies, images, and measurements are complete, properly labeled, and available for physician interpretation in a timely manner. Working in a fast-paced clinical environment, you will prioritize and coordinate multiple exams based on patient acuity and department needs, while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and privacy. You will adhere to infection prevention practices, follow proper patient identification and time-out procedures, and comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and departmental policies. The role requires consistent attention to detail, strong clinical judgment within your scope of practice, and the ability to respond effectively in urgent or emergent cardiac situations.
