Billing Specialist

Position: Billing Specialist Department: Revenue Cycle Location: Poway, CA (Hybrid)

Hybrid following successful completion of training and introductory period. Initial onboarding and training required onsite. Regular onsite attendance is required for department meetings, training, and other business-related responsibilities. This role may occasionally require working onsite for a full day based on operational needs.

Job Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $23.00–$28.00 per hour DOE

Position Summary

Retina Consultants San Diego is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. This position plays a vital role in supporting billing operations through claims processing, accounts receivable follow-up, patient billing support, and reimbursement activities.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced medical biller looking to join a collaborative specialty practice environment.

Responsibilities

• Submit and review insurance claims
• Correct claim errors and resubmit as needed
• Perform accounts receivable follow-up
• Review unpaid claims and communicate with payers
• Assist with patient billing inquiries
• Maintain accurate documentation and account notes
• Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure billing accuracy

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years medical billing experience required
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
• Experience with claim follow-up and payer communication
• Ophthalmology experience preferred
